Could we have new South East leaders tonight?

Cray Valley PM will hit the summit if they are victorious at Burgess Hill, whilst Sittingbourne look to get back to winning ways at Littlehampton

Cray Valley PM have had a magnificent season- but the one thing they haven’t done, despite remaining unbeaten for seven months, is top the table. That could change tonight, however, as the Millers travel to Burgess Hill Town to play their one remaining game in hand over current leaders Ramsgate, with a two point gap to make up. Cray Valley won both matches against the Hillians last season, and indeed have emerged victorious from five of their last seven meetings- but they’ll need to guard against complacency as Hill have delivered some fine moments of late despite losing their last two. With fourteen points between themselves and the top five promotion dreams have perhaps left for another year, but they are unlikely to give up without a fight.

Elsewhere in Sussex, Littlehampton Town play host to Sittingbourne, the hosts looking to take inspiration from neighbours Chichester City, who ended the Brickies seven match winning streak in style on Saturday. Sittingbourne conceded more goals- three- on Saturday than they had conceded in their previous seven matches combined, and will expect to quickly put that behind them at the Sussex seaside. They now find themselves nine points behind leaders Ramsgate, although comfortable in third place, and thirteen points clear of the side in sixth- Saturday’s victors, City. The Golds are in fourteenth, seven points clear of the bottom two, and are three unbeaten- their best run in a while. Another three points would lift them up a place.

The sides are scheduled to meet again on the last day of the season.
