In the continued pursuit of securing a home ground and future for the oldest association football club in London, Cray Wanderers FC hosted a Planning Launch and Footballing Extravaganza at Bromley Football Club on Saturday 9th December prior to the scheduled home game against Hythe Town.
The event was a huge success with Cray’s biggest crowd of the season attending to cheer the team on to a 4-1 win against opposition Hythe Town. Children and young people from the clubs 13 Youth Teams and the Cray Wanderers Community Scheme had the opportunity to train on the pitch with the first team prior to the game and an exhibition of the revised planning application was on show giving attendees the opportunity to understand the new scheme and ask any questions they may have.

Gary Hillman, Chairman of Cray Wanderers FC, stated:
“The day was a massive success for the club- both the event and the game that followed. It was fantastic to see so many supporters attend and for the clubs young people to be centrally involved. And it was great to be able to explain the scheme that we hope will keep London’s oldest Football Club alive whilst bringing benefits to the entire local community.”
The club has now submitted this new planning application for consideration to the London Borough of Bromley Council, which has already received over 600 comments of support. The revised scheme has been created through pre application consultation with the London Borough of Bromley Council and the Greater London Authority (GLA).
The club are confident the scheme addresses the Mayor’s previous concerns whilst actually increasing the greenbelt space and openness of the site. Compared to the last application, the new proposal includes:
