Cray's Wandering to come to an end

New ground approved- Cray Wanderers to be wanderers no more

It's been a long time coming, but after decades without a home of their own, and the disappointment of Mayor of London Sidiq Khan turning into Sidiq Khant even after the local authority gave their blessing to building plans in 2016, Cray Wanderers can finally look forward to having a home of their own.

Cray didn't have the financial muscle to fight the London Mayor after their dream was originally quashed, so instead went back to the drawing board, rewriting their plans, launching a public consultation and then running a PR campaign designed to demonstrate the strength of local support for the initiative to build a new ground at Flamingo Park, just off the A20 in Sidcup. This included a march on City Hall back in April, when the club delivered thousands of letters of support to the London Authority in a wheelbarrow- and since then they've had to play the waiting game, as a decision was continually delayed.

That wait came to an end last night, however, when club Chairman Gary Hillman confirmed- via social media- that he'd just been been advised that planning permission had been granted, sparking celebration.
