Do you know a Local Hero?

By Ian Townsend

We're looking for your local heroes for a series of articles featuring those who make our game a success

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our Non League game, and we're looking to turn the focus on at least five of them for a short series, coming soon. We asked you for your nominations back in November, but it seems that the article got generally missed as we didn't get enough for a series. So we're asking again today, as we know full well that a large number of you will be staring at the screens of your new phone or tablet for much of the day, given the dearth of entertainment in the television listings!

Does your Pitching In Isthmian League club have a local hero? We're looking for volunteers whose dedication to their club is unsurpassed. We'd like to interview them in the near future, to find out what makes their club quite so important in their lives and how that relationship came about, and to tell their football story.

Please get in touch with your nomination- it would also be helpful (but not essential) if you had their contact details- by emailing Ian via townsendaround@gmail.com and explaining why their efforts are so important to your club. We need at least five, and if we get more than five nominations we'll look to run a second series later in the year.

This festive season is rather unlike any other we've experienced, and for all the wrong reasons, but we'd like to send best wishes for a peaceful Christmas and a positive, optimistic New Year to all of our officials, players and supporters. Keep well, until we're able to meet again on a touchline near you.
