Dockers Secretary Anthony saves the day as Tilbury wallop North Greenford United

By Ian Townsend

Tilbury scored seven- but they also had an unsung hero on the touchline!

Scoring seven goals in an FA Cup match away from home might be reason enough for plaudits, you might think- but as well as the heroics of Ola Ogunwamide, Brian Moses, Lewis Smith, Lee Burns and Josh Osude et al on the pitch against North Greenford United, they also had another hero, as without the efforts of Club Secretary Anthony Mercer the match may well have been called off.

Anthony was undoubtedly hoping for a quiet afternoon interrupted only by the need to cheer Tilbury goals, but it wasn't to be when one of the Assistant Referees succumbed to an injury. The call went out for help, and Anthony responded, spending sixty minutes haring up and down the touchline to ensure that the game could go ahead. We suspect that he didn't have the added accompaniment of the music from Rocky whilst he was performing the role, but he has it now, as you will find out below!
