Donations needed for kit amnesty

By David Watters

Barkingside are hosting a charity kit amnesty next month when they host Aveley in Ryman North.

Fans of both clubs are being urged to bring along any unwanted items of kit when the Side entertain the Millers at the Cricklefield Stadium in Ilford on Saturday 21 November.

Organisers behind the event which is being timed to coincide with the now annual 'Wear a Sports Shirt Day', say the donations will be handed over to Kits4Causes who collect and distribute donated football shirts, kit and equipment to good causes in Africa and around the world, pictured.

The charity fixture is now being promoted on Facebook and spokesman Julian Chenery said: "Anyone attending the game is asked - purely on a voluntary basis - to bring along am item of old sportswear or equipment to donate. If you can attend the match and support this great cause it would be very much appreciated."

Based in the West Midlands, Kit4Causes have collected and sent more than 37,000 items to community groups and charities in this country and more than 40 more around the world.
