Double Oaks

By Ian Townsend

New signings Solomon Baugh and Mitchell Chapman play their part in Sevenoaks victory

Sevenoaks Town had two debutants as they went from two goals up to three-two down before finally winning four-three at Sheppey United on Saturday.

Solomon Baugh would have been instantly recognisable to the Oaks faithful, as he returned to the club. He also scored their second goal on his second debut.

Solomon returns to the club from Pitching In Isthmian South Premier side Cheshunt, where he has only been since September. He made fifteen appearances for the Ambers, scoring on his debut and contributing three goals in total.

Nominally a wide player, he has already scored four goals for the Oaks in nine appearances this season, and he got nine in twenty seven last season.

Solomon was with Waltham Abbey prior to his move to the Oaks, and also played SCEFL football with Glebe. Further north once more, he spent time with Edgware Town.

Mitchell Chapman emerged from the bench in the closing stages. Mitchell also moved to the Oaks from a Premier club, in his case Cray Wanderers.

Mitch has been with Wands since the start of the 22-23 campaign, and made twenty four appearances last season after joining from Ramsgate. he had also spent time with Oaks previously, but a rather short time!

He made twenty three appearances during the 21-22 season as the Rams narrowly missed out on a play off spot, following seven appearances in the almost non-existent 2020-21 campaign and two after joining the club just before the 2019-20 campaign crashed and burned.

He previously played for East Grinstead Town, at first on loan from Ebsfleet United but later after signing a permanent deal in September 2018. In between that loan and permanent deal he played for Hythe Town, and during the 19-20 season made thirteen appearances for Faversham Town and two for the Sevenoaks Town- who he left to become a Ram.

He also spent a short time with VCD Athletic during their last North Division season, 2016-17.
