Draw Wednesday

By Ian Townsend

Three matches, three draws, only a point for three of the top five after Rams let a three goal lead slip

Bottom side Faversham Town only took a point from their visit to leaders Ramsgate last night, but it will undoubtedly feel like three as the Lilywhites came from three goals down to score three of their own in the last half an hour.

It looked to be plain sailing for the Rams in the first half, Tijan Jadama giving them an early lead and Ashley Miller doubling it five minutes before the break- and it was surely game over when Jack Paxman made it three ten minutes after the restart. The visitors then decided to make a match of it. On the hour Ronald Sithole got one back, and seven minutes later Harry Codd, who had entered from the bench less than ten minutes earlier, brought it back to three-two. Could they? It seemed unlikely as the match headed towards a close, but right at the end Kieron Campbell fired home a fre kick to earn his side what had seemed an unlikely point.

The Rams have a two point lead at the top, whilst the Lilywhites are fourteen points from safety- but will undoubtedly gain confidence from this result.

Third place Chatham Town welcomed fifth place Sheppey United and a incredible one thousand, six hundred and eighty one hardy souls, but despite their best efforts neither side could welcome a goal. Seidou Sanogo hit the bar for the hosts, and that was as good as it got. The Chats stay third, four points behind the leaders with a game in hand, whilst the Ites remain fifth, eight points further back but two ahead of Cray Valley PM and Ashford United.

Finally, Sevenoaks Town got out of jail with a late comeback at home to VCD Athletic. Vickers, who had got seven matches without a win, looked to have got back to winning ways due to first half goals from Anthony Adesite and Jordan Greaves, but the last ten minutes became the Kieran Cadogan show. The Oaks number ten pulled a goal back with eight minutes remaining, and then two minutes from time he converted a penalty to earn his side a point which had looked unlikely just moments earlier. Oaks are ninth, but only four points away from the top five, whilst Vickerts are three points above the bottom four.
