Driver and Blake new at Wanderers

By Ian Townsend

New striker follows new manager at Ipswich Wanderers

In the lead up to the weekend's fixtures Ipswich Wanderers announced a rather familiar name as their new boss, with the arrival of former Leiston manager Glen Driver. Glen was manager of Leiston as they reached our Premier Play Off Semi-Finals during the 2017-18 campaign, prior to their transfer to the Southern League.

Glen has had two successful spells as Leiston boss, with a spell in between the two in charge of National League side Braintree Town.

Striker Matt 'steak bake' Blake was part of Drivers Leiston side, and indeed was an important part, scoring forty two goals and picking up our Premier Division Golden Boot during 2016-17. Prior to his time at Leiston he had three years at Norwich United and scored a rather phenomenal one hundred and nineteen goals, and has already spent time with Wanderers, scoring thirty five goals during 21-22. He has also played for Stowmarket Town, Thetford Town and Diss Town.
