Easterford's experience equals points

By David Watters

Cheshunt manager Glen Alzapedi is looking forward to experienced defender John Easterford helping his side continue to tighten up at the back and keep climbing the Ryman North table.

Easterford, 29, signed for the Ambers ahead of their 2-1 win at Phoenix Sports on Saturday, making an immediate impact after leaving Ryman Premier Canvey Island following his second spell with the Gulls.

The former Southend United, Southend Manor, East Thurrock United and Brentwood Town player returned to Park Lane last summer from local rivals Concord Rangers after helping them win promotion to National League South during two seasons at the Aspect Arena.

In his first spell at Canvey between 2010 and 2012, Easterford, pictured in action for the club, made 88 appearances and won the Essex Senior Cup in 2012. Before being reunited with Alzapedi, the central defender made a further 49 appearances.

After securing their first away win of the campaign last weekend, the Ambers go looking for a third home win this Saturday with Easterford fit to face Maldon & Tiptree in league action at Theobalds Lane.
