Athletic awarded National Lottery funding

Grays Athletic announced yesterday evening that they had been awarded ten thousand pounds of National Lottery funding by Sport England’s Community Emergency Fund.

The club, which has thirty teams with ages ranging from five years of age to “Walking footballers,” who go from fifty-five to over seventy years of age, has been hard hit by the coronavirus outbreak, along with the rest of the Non League game. It has taken advantage- via a lengthy application process- of a thirty five million pound pot administered by Sport England, 'designed to deliver immediate funding to those who have a role in supporting the nation to be active, but are experiencing short-term financial hardship or the ceasing of operations due to the impact of coronavirus.'

The grant will help the club to cover some of its running costs, and the loss or revenue suffered since March 2020.
