A Town expansion

A new Community Building- for the community and built by it- opened at Witham Town

Witham Town opened their new community building at the Simarco Stadium prior to their fixture against Romford on Saturday.

The building which comprises a board room, separate meeting room, kitchen and hospitality area has been dedicated to Witham Town’s late chairman Tony Last and was opened by his daughter Donna in the presence of her partner Mark and daughter Tenaya.

Witham Town Chairman Mark Nicholls said:

“This is a seminal moment in the history of Witham Town and a significant step forward for us. It is a day when we look forward to the future of the club but when we also look back to the club’s heritage. Tony Last played a unique part in Witham Town’s history. He saved the club in its’ darkest hour and without him we would not exist today. There is no doubt that the club’s expansion in the last few years has been built upon the foundations that Tony provided. Tony’s late wife Linda also had a big involvement with Witham Town and we are honoured to have Donna and family here today as we pay tribute to the years of service provided to the club by the Last family.”

Mark added:

“We are very much a community club and this building would not exist without the labour and materials provided by members of the community who have supported our vision to create a modern building that will serve us well in the future”.
