Bay bring back Bewick

Midfielder Sam returns to Winch's Field

Herne Bay last night announced the return of midfielder Sam Bewick, who has spent the last couple of campaigns turning out for Corinthian in the SCEFL, scoring an impressive number of goals.

Sam came through the Queens Park Rangers Academy, played briefly for Woking, and then had success at Maidstone United before also playing for Tonbridge Angels and having a first spell at Bay. He then went on to play for Hythe Town and Faversham Town, scoring fifteen goals for the Lilywhites in 2016-17 and following that with more the following season. He also spent time with Whitstable Town.

Manager Ben Smith, speaking to the club website, said:

‘Pleased to have Sam with us at the bay, he’s a player that is hated by the opposition which I have had plenty of experience of in the past! After showing some fantastic form, last season was tough for him with his injury problems but his recovery has gone really well and he’s looking extremely fit at the moment and probably ahead of where I expected him to be which bodes well.

Versatility and energy going both ways on the pitch are two ingredients that we need in our squad going forward, and if we can keep Sam fit and healthy then he has these in abundance.’

Read more from the player by heading here, and look out for an interview on Herne Bay TV shortly.
