Fifteen Hawks!

Harlow get into a signing frenzy

Harlow Town have just announced a rather incredible fifteen signings, as Mark Holloway prepares his squad for 2020-21.

The first few will be rather familiar to the Hawks faithful, as Charlie Collis, Ross Elsom, Syrus Gordon, Amar Lewis, Hector Mackie, Hugo Atkinson and Christian Adu Gyamfi sign on for another campaign.

The next collection will be rather new, and yet many of them will still be recognisable as they will have turned out for the opposition!

First up is Canvey Island goalkeeper Robb Budd. Rob made ten appearances for the Gulls last season after joining them from Herne Bay, for whom he'd played three times after a summer move from Hullbridge Sports. He previously played for Brentwood Town, Romford and Sheppey United.

Forward Warren Kayembe had an eventful 2019-20, starting the season at Grays Athletic, spending about ten minutes with Romford (which was about the norm midway through last season), moving on to Coggeshall Town before apparently ending the campaign at Basildon United, although we've no record of him making a Bees appearance. He also previously played for Ware and Walthamstow.

Another striker, L'Heureux Menga, was also briefly at Grays Athletic last season. He has a large collection of prior clubs, including Cheshunt, Barking, Farnborough, Thurrock, East Thurrock United, Welling United and Dagenham & Redbridge.

Midfielder George Doyle is another with a Grays Athletic connection, as he started last season there before heading back to one of his former clubs, Brightlingsea Regent. He moved to Athletic from Aveley (so didn't move far at all), who he joined in October 2017 to reunite with his former manager, James Webster; making more than half a century of appearances for the Millers before his departure.

Full back Ahmet Biler came through the Southend United Under 18 side after being part of their Academy, whilst Ruaridh Kay, a midfielder, will be remembered from his time at Waltham Abbey and Haringey Borough.

Dominic Clatworthy was part of the Colchester United Academy and played international football at schoolboy level for Wales, whilst we don't know anything at all about Jack Holloway, but the Hawks describe him as a utility player- which we don't believe means he has to look after the electricity, water and gas supplies to the stadium.
