Waltham Abbey fans will undoubtedly be crying into their mead this evening, having heard the news that manager Mark Stimson has decided to head around the M25 and take charge at AFC Hornchurch.
The Urchins have wasted little time finding a replacement for Jim McFarlane, who left the club earlier this week after more than a decade at the helm, and have decided that the former Newcastle United, Portsmouth and Southend United defender- and, of course, former Grays Athletic, Gillingham and- until the end of last season- Thurrock manager is the man for the job.
Stimson joined the Abbotts after the sad demise of Thurrock, and leaves them in fifth place in the Bostik South Central Division. His first match in charge of the Urchins will come at Whitehawk on Saturday- a match which will, incidentally, be the subject of our #Bostikmatchday feature this weekend.
