Gearing departs Bay undefeated...having not played a single match

One manager departs in acrimonious circumstances, to be replaced by another who recently lost his job in acrimonious circumstances

It is less than a month since we reported that Herne Bay had appointed Nick Gearing, a former Leyton Orient and Gillingham coach, as their new manager. Yesterday Bay announced significant changes to their board- you can read about them here- and this morning Gearing announced, via social media, that he had been removed from his position, having not yet seen his side play a match, or indeed even hosted a training session.

Gearing, whose statement can be read viaTwitter , has been rather scathing about his treatment. The club later confirmed the appointment of former Canterbury City- manager Ben Smith, who was also recently dismissed from his post in acrimonious circumstances after comments he made before a match with Cray Valley PM led to his chairman wielding the axe- and to a player rebellion in his favour.
