Grays bring in Gulls striker

Record breaking former Urchin swaps seaside for Parkside

Grays Athletic have announced the capture of Canvey Island striker George Purcell.

Purcell moved to Park Lane in May, after six years with Hornchurch. He's managed six goals for the Gulls so far this season, following on from the seventeen he scored for the Urchins last season in the Premier Division- and the one hundred and forty nine he scored for his former club in total. He is the record goalscorer for Hornchurch, with a record that may take rather a long time to break.

Purcell appeared for Canvey in Saturday's FA Cup draw with Bowers & Pitsea, but shortly after that match it was announced that he had left the club- and we were all waiting to find out where he was going. Well, know we know- and you can read more on this move by heading to the Athletic website, here.
