Hillians need help to 'Light up Leylands"

Burgess Hill crowdfund to replace their floodlights

Burgess Hill Town yesterday became the latest of our clubs to turn to crowdfunding to try and bridge a funding shortfall caused by the coronavirus crisis- but in their case they have a specific use planned for any cash raised- they want to replace the floodlights around Leylands Park before a scheduled September inspection. The club has set a target of ten thousand pounds, and by the end of the first day supporters had rallied round and donated more than a tenth of that total.

They explain:

'As always, our fantastic volunteers and supporters have been working tirelessly and given the ground a makeover to be proud of. Unfortunately, the season´s revenues have fallen short of us being able to invest in our main concern, which is to repair and renovate the floodlights at the ground. We have a compulsory lights test coming up in September, so, we are launching our first ever Crowdfunder campaign, Light Up Leylands.

Our target is to raise £10,000, which will enable us to replace all of the lights and cover all of the costs involved to secure the lights for years to come.'

The crowdfunding effort comes with prizes and shopping opportunities. Fans can buy themselves a five year season ticket, a sports massage from club legend Pat Harding (ask him how he stays so young whilst he's causing you pain, we've discounted the idea that he's a vampire), a match-worn shirt from their favourite player, mascot experiences, or even pay to have the ground named after them or their business if they feel like it!
