Flint, the assistant manager to Danny Greaves when the club was in the Essex Senior League, was appointed until the end of the season on Monday within hours of Kimble's departure after nearly five years at the helm.
Assisted by James Robinson, Flint takes over a side sitting three places and three points above the Ryman North drop zone ahead of their final nine outings of the campaign and the weekend's action.
In a statement released by officials announcing his appointment, he said: "When an opportunity like this comes along you do not say no. It's a bold move by the club. Garry will be a hard act to follow and I know how important it is for the club stay in the Ryman League."
Witham Town
A run of just two wins in his side's last 18 outings in all competitions ended the reign of Kimble, pictured, who was thanked by Witham Town chairman Mark Nicholls for his efforts since taking over in April 2011 and guiding the club back into the Ryman League from the Essex Senior League before winning promotion to the Ryman's top flight for the first time.
He said: "The Board felt that the first team had been taken as far as it could under the present management. The board would like to thank Garry for all the hard work and effort that he has put in over the years at the club. We would like to wish him all the best for the future."
