Kingstonian announce their next proposed ground share agreement

Kingstonian and Tooting & Mitcham United last night released a joint statement confirming that- subject to League approval- they would be sharing Imperial Fields from next season. The statement is as follows:

'Tooting & Mitcham United FC and Kingstonian FC are delighted to announce that, subject to Isthmian League approval, an agreement has been reached to ground share TMUFC’s Imperial Fields stadium from the start of the 2022/23 season initially for a year and with an option to continue year on year until Kingstonian are able to return to the Royal Borough of Kingston. From TMUFC’s perspective they are delighted to support another Club in the Isthmian League Family.

Both Clubs are looking at growth and new beginnings. TMUFC have recently achieved a planning consent for an ‘enabling’ residential block on one small area of Imperial Fields. The surplus funds from the development will be invested into further community buildings at the site, creating greater footfall and sustainability for TM United. The entire scheme will offer 100% affordable housing.

From their perspective Kingstonian have had meaningful conversations with the Royal Borough of Kingston about finding a site for their new home within the Borough. Their new stadium will be designed to fall into line with their aspirations to reach the Conference South League. In the interim period Imperial Fields meets FA requirements for playing at this higher level and of course serves TMUFC’s own ambitions to move up through the Leagues.

Both Clubs are confident that the synergy between them works well to allow for a happy co-existence at Imperial Fields (starting with a pre-season friendly!).'

The K's currently share with Corinthian-Casuals, where they have been based since the start of the 2018-19 season, and prior to that spent a season sharing Fetcham Grove with Leatherhead after their departure from Kingsmeadow. The journey from Kingston to Imperial Fields by public transport will take around forty minutes (Mitcham Tramstop, following a train to Wimbledon) and by road the distance is only seven miles, but of course that doesn't take into account the often horrendous traffic!

Tooting & Mitcham United previously shared Imperial Fields with Dulwich Hamlet, whilst Hamlet were in dispute with their landlords during their promotion season.
