Merstham have spirit!

Visitors to Merstham will need to stop using the name of the stadium to question the eyesight of match officials, as the club's partnership with Specsavers is no more. With immediate effect the home of Frank Wilson's side will now be known as the Whisky Bible Stadium, after the club secured a naming rights deal with the book which aims to find discerning drinkers the world's best examples of that popular Scottish spirit.

The naming deal has come about due to local connections; Jim Murray, author and publisher of the Whisky Bible, is a Merstham local- born in the village and a regular visitor to Moatside. Speaking to the club website, he explained:

"Although my travels have taken me all over the world, I have always had a strong affinity with the club and take in their games whenever I can. I have been looking for an opportunity to get involved and assist the club and the stadium-naming rights seemed the perfect way to help. We plan to take our sponsorship further in the forthcoming years and we hope to encourage local businesses to follow our lead and support the marvellous club they have in their midst.”
