My First XI 21/22: Barry Sutton

By Ian Townsend

Lancing fan Barry gives us his tour of the best in the Pitching In Isthmian South East.

Here’s Barry with his First XI, direct from Culver Road.

1. Alieu Secka (Lancing) – Been outstanding since signing. A great shot stopper, outstanding on crosses and saves the odd penalty too.

2. Jack Parter (Herne Bay) – Looked really solid against us and dangerous going forward.

3. Craig Stone (Hastings United) – title wins are built on defences and in Craig Stone and Finn O’Mara there are two of the best. Seemed to mop up everything against us.

4. Finn O’Mara (Hastings)- see above

5. Harrison Parker (Lancing) – been so good over the second half of the season. Excellent going forward and back, combative and physical.

6. Byron Napper (Haywards Heath Town) – Haywards Heath’s captain was combative and a real leader against us, driving the midfield and keeping the rest of his team on their toes

7. Finn Daniels-Yeoman (Lancing) – the hardest working player I have seen all season. Covers every blade of grass, strong in the tackle and deceptively quick.

8. Tom Chalmers (Hastings United) – A quality midfielder with an eye for a creative pass.

9. Zac Ansah (Herne Bay) – League’s top scorer who scored 4 times against us in 2 games. Fast and deadly in front of goal.

10. Ashley Miller (Ramsgate) – A thorn in our side in both games with excellent play on the left and an eye for goal too.

11. Lewis Finney (Burgess Hill Town) – Always a threat, broke our hearts with a last minute free kick to equalise at their ground. Only the excellent burger at the More Than Tyres stadium made up for the disappointment.

Thanks Barry, it’s good to hear your views. Now, let’s be hearing from the rest of you! Send in your First XI to Ian at townsendaround@gmail.com and you’ll see it here soon.
