My First XI

Given we’ve very little actual football to write about, and absolutely none to watch, we thought we’d stimulate debate and discussion by launching a new feature- My First XI.

We’d like supporters to pick the eleven best players they’ve ever seen play for their club, place them into a formation of their choice, and explain why they’ve made those particular selections. We will print them all here, and publish them across our social media networks to stimulate debate and discussion- and if we get enough entries perhaps have a little competition on Twitter to see which side you think would be the best.

We’d also like to open this up to club and league officials, managers and players. If you’re approaching this from a neutral standpoint, feel free to pick a First XI from across the Isthmian League- but we won’t be able to enter your side into any subsequent competition as you’ll have an unfair advantage!

Your formation can be up to you, but must include a goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders and forwards. We don’t want you going all Marcelo Bielsa on us and plumping for 0-0-10.

The amount of detail you give is also up to you, but we would like to have at least a sentence to explain each selection, even if it’s only a few words- but feel free to write more if you like. And by the way, you can enter even if your side is no longer in our League, so long as the players you pick were in the team when it was still playing here!
