My First XI: East Grinstead Town, Adam Robinson

It is not often that someone can talk about their favourite swarm of Wasps, but Adam is an exception

Adam takes us on a journey through the world of East Grinstead Town, with a four-three-three formation.

Goalkeeper -

Chris Haigh - With us in the early days of our Isthmian League adventure, but a very talented goalkeeper. Now in National League South at Concord Rangers.

Defenders -

Drew Cooney – A club legend for me; a proper centre half who loves a tackle! Always puts a shift in and every Grinstead fan loves him. If they don’t, they’re wrong!

George Benner - With us for our first season in Isthmian League. Never saw him have a bad game for us, put himself about making sure that his job was always done properly.

Callum Emptage - Had a couple of spells with us and was club captain second time round. Always ambitious and looking to drive the team forward.

Tom Cadman - A wand of a left foot from full back, always putting a shift in- he was up and down the line for 90 mins. He had a goal in him from left back as well.

Midfielders -

Steve Sargent – A calm and controlled midfielder, always looking to play forward balls and get the strikers a sniff at goal.

Charlie Harris - Only had a short spell with us, but a very talented player. Horsham fans will attest to that as well!

Alex Gaggin - He’s magic and he wears a magic hat, because when sees the match ball he says I’m having that. All East Grinstead fans think he’s their favourite Australian! Quick, tricky player who always got the fans excited. Would love to see him back in the Amber and Black.

Forwards -

Greg Cundle – An absolute wizard with a ball at his feet. In his last spell with us he scored 20 odd goals in about the same number of games. Dragged players up with him and had every fan excited when had the ball.

Marcus Elliott - Had a few spells with Grinstead over the years and always scored goals for us. Who doesn’t love a player that scores goals for the club!

Melford Simpson - He’s got cult hero status down at Grinstead. A six feet five tank of a man, adored still for his header away at South Park- where it seems liked he jumped higher than the cross bar and headed it in.
