Pitching In Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2021-22: Cray Wanderers

By Ian Townsend

We’re back in the Premier Division, home of those magic Wands of Cray. Martyn Beadle is our guide.

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off. We’re off to Hayes Lane, where Martyn gives us his thoughts.

1. Thinking about last season- what there was of it- were there any highlights for you?

I suppose, for me, the highlight of last season was our terrific performance at Haringey Borough in October, where we went from being 1 nil down to winning 3-1. Bradley Pritchard got the equaliser, and then after the break Ben Mundele and Rhys Murrell-Williamson delivered three points.

2. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2021-22 campaign?

My player to look out for this season will be Anis Nuur. From what I've seen so far in pre - season he is quick and has got an eye for goal.

3. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

I really think we can challenge for promotion. We’ve got a new manager in Danny Kedwell, who has got good contacts in the non-league game, so I'm hoping we can get a squad together that can be at the top end of the table.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

I haven’t been following the club for too long, so I’m looking forward to visiting all the away grounds I haven’t been to yet.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

With my lack of away matches so far I’ll have to say Haringey Borough. It was a great day out and the Borough fans created a bit of atmosphere!

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

I think our biggest rivals this year will be Lewes- mainly because our players/management have gone there! It will be very interesting when we play them next season.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

I don't think I can give much advice for away fans, we still groundshare with Bromley and I expect most away fans have been there already. In a couple of seasons we will have our own ground at Flamingo Park so I'll be able to give a better review when we are finally home.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Joe Taylor for his goalscoring over the last two seasons. I hope he doesn't come back to haunt us now that he is playing for Lewes.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Lewes, Worthing, Cray Wanderers, Carshalton Athletic, Cheshunt
