Pitching In Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2021-22: Hanwell Town

Time to head to Hanwell Town, home of an impressive green carpet, a large number of Geordie souvenirs, a cup-winning side and the irrepressible Elsa Jones.

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off. Elsa Jones is the voice of Hanwell Town.

1. Thinking about last season- what there was of it- were there any highlights for you?

For us the highlight of our season was winning the Middlesex Senior Cup! Something that the club has come close to on a number of occasions, but until this season never achieved. The first time we’d won the Middlesex Senior Cup in our 101 year history; a great day for the club.

2. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2021-22 campaign?

Tough question! We’ve been able to keep the majority of our squad from the past two seasons which is great to see. The boys we have at the moment are a great bunch on and off the pitch, we’re very lucky to have them.

We’ve had some new additions too who have looked great in pre season. I think one of our new players Adam will make a huge impact, if his pre season is anything to go by.

3. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

I hope that we make the play offs. We were really unlucky 2 seasons ago, being top of the table for the majority of the season then it being voided. That was a tough one to take. Hopefully we can get off to a good start and finish high!

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

I think Guernsey away is top of everyone’s list! I can’t wait for that one. I do some groundhopping when Hanwell Town aren’t playing, so a great one to tick off. There are a few new teams in our league this year which means, a new ground to tick off and a new pin badge!

5. What is your favourite away ground?

My favourite away ground in our league is probably Chalfont St Peter. We’ve been in the same league as Chalfont for years. Always a warm welcome from Dennis and the team. There is also a really nice pub around the corner which we go to before the game.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

I’d say our biggest rivals are Uxbridge. Just because they are the closest to us (mile wise). In the past three seasons we’ve both been near the top of the table.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Whether you’re on public transport or by car, Hanwell Town is super easy to get to. Located right next to the A40 and with our digital screen on the corner you can’t miss us! We’re a 7 minute walk from Perivale station and very close to Ealing Broadway too.

We always do paper programmes which is quite attractive to non league football fans. We also have pin badges and a club shop which is full of lots of goodies - but you’ll have to get there before our Northern fans!

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Another really tough question! Lots of players come through the doors at non league level so it’s hard to pick my all time favourite but Kyle Watson was great for us back in 2015/16. Hugo Sobte, our keeper is incredible. Gareth Chendlik is pretty cool too, he’s done lots for the club in the past year such as helping to build our new ramp/boardroom/physio room etc...so he’s up there as well.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Basingstoke Town, Bracknell Town, Chertsey Town, Hanwell Town and Tooting & Mitcham United.

Look out for the final predicted tables on Saturday!
