Robins head down the road

Bracknell move to Sandhurst, and build for the future

Bracknell Town have recently announced that they are to move in with Sandhurst Town- seven miles away- and vacate their Larges Lane home, whilst building a three million pound educational and footballing facility twenty five metres away from their current ground. The new facility doesn't seem to be designed to house the Robins first team matches, however, so it seems that the plan is to remain in Sandhurst for the foreseeable future- although it is described by the club as a "stepping-stone site."

In a statement which you can read here, the club explain that the move will allow them to concentrate their development and education plans- described as accounting for 95% of their current site usage at Larges Lane- at the newly built 'New Campus Pavilion/Classrooms' which will include 'multiple high grade fully irrigated grass pitches.' They will also be investing two million pounds into Sandhurst Town's Bottom Meadow- and will hope that this facility will allow the first team to progress higher up the pyramid. The statement confirms that this is a big part of their long term planning:

'The current the site is operating at its maximum ground grading potential with the FA. Progress for Bracknell Town FC First Team upon this site is limited to step 4 Football. We are unable to attain the next grade due to capacity issues, changing room, facilities and segregation issues.'

The move is scheduled to happen in June. Read more courtesy of Football in Berkshire- here.
