White Hawks and Green Lions raise two grand with 'virtual' match

Back in March, shortly after the world went crazy, Whitehawk and Guernsey decided to play out their scheduled South East Division clash 'virtually' to raise money for a couple of local charities. The match, which ended in a six-all draw, took over the Twittersphere for an afternoon, and much fun was had by all- but most importantly the fund raising has just ended and the Hawks have announced that two thousand pounds was raised.

One thousand pounds will go to the Whitehawk Foodbank, for whom Sean Avard, Operations Manager, commented:

“Thank you Hawks fans for your tremendous generosity raising £1,000 for the Whitehawk foodbank, it is so appreciated. Since the lockdown there has been a 600% increase in demand for food. That’s feeding around 500 people every week. We so appreciate your support and thanks again. “
