Borough triumph, Millers lose for the first time in nine months, whilst Leafe march on in the cup

By Ian Townsend

We had three important matches last night in League and Cup. Here's what happened.

Haringey Borough climbed to fourth place in the Premier Division last night with victory over East Thurrock United, a result which sees the Rocks still searching for a first win after five matches.

Roman Michael-Percil broke the deadlock for the hosts in the fourth minute, with his second goal of the season- and had a third ten minutes before the break- both coming from the spot after the referee awarded penalties. Jamie-Lee O'Donoghue struck the first goal from open play for the hosts fifteen minutes before the end to make the Borough lead unsurmountable, although Kenny Aileru got a consolation for the visitors five minutes later. Two hundred and sixty six turned up to watch.

In the North Division, Aveley's run of five consecutive victories in all competitions came to an end last night, as Brentwood Town left Parkside with all three points. A goal from Andy Freeman just after the hour saw Town win their first league match of the season, and the Millers lose in the league for the first time since January 4th.

We also had cup action, as Whyteleafe continued their impressive start to the season with a three-one win over Burnham, in a match switched to Church Road after Burnham's ground remained stubbornly waterlogged. Leafe fell being early on, Brad Holland opening the scoring in the third minute, but Helge Orome levelled midway through the first half, Aaron Watson put them ahead just before the break, and Ricardo Thompson made sure of progression with a third goal in the very last minute.

Leafe will host Concord Rangers in the Third Qualifying Round next Tuesday night, having won every one of the six competitive matches they've played so far this season.
