Defty’s fifth-minute strike, his 11th goal of the season, lifted the Trawlerboys to eighth place and, having not yet reached the halfway point in their league campaign, they have at least three games in hand on everyone above them, including Margate who remained in sixth spot.
In the only other Premier game to survive the weather,
Enfield Town improved their survival hopes considerably with an impressive 4-0 home win over Met Police, a side whose recent good form was driving them towards the play-off race.
The damage was done early and late. Adam Wallace and Scott McGleish put Town 2-0 up by the 12th minute. Michael Bardle made it three in the 85th minute and McGleish added another making nine in eight games since the veteran striker moved to Donkey Lane.
