Do you know a Grassroots Hero?

The FA and McDonalds have launched the 2021 Grassroots Football Awards- nominate now

The FA and McDonalds have launched their Grassroots Football Awards- and you can nominate your grassroots hero now. The awards are designed 'to recognise and reward the people, clubs and leagues that deliver grassroots football throughout the country. The awards are split into categories, anybody can nominate people into the category through the online nomination portal. County FAs select a local winner for each from the public’s nominations. These form a shortlist for our national winners, selected by a national judging panel.'

Last year one of our own picked up a prize- Elsa Jones from Hanwell Town collecting the Rising Star of the Year Award. Given the work she's done for the Geordies since she might well win again- although her star has well and truly risen so it might have to be in a different category!

Elsa is wonderful, but not unique. Many of our clubs have their own Elsa's, equally deserving of recognition- but they won't get that recognition if you don't fill in a nomination! The categories are:

  • Grassroots Coach of the Year (Adult team)
  • Grassroots Coach of the Year (Youth team)
  • Grounds Team of the Year
  • Grassroots Club of the Year
  • Grassroots League of the Year
  • Grassroots Volunteer of the Year
  • Rising Star of the Year
  • The Spirit of Grassroots Football Award
  • Grassroots Match Official of the Year
  • Grassroots Project of the Year
  • The Bobby Moore Award

Nominate HERE- and you can watch a video below which might help.

And if you like videos, here's Elsa being honoured last season.
