Knight stays at Parkside- but changes club

Grays Athletic sign our former golden boot winner

Aveley striker David Knight has upped sticks and moved precisely no distance at all, as he has signed for Grays Athletic.

Knight made five appearances for the Millers after signing last October, prior to which he had made six appearances for Cheshunt, scoring once for each club. During the 2019-20 season he was rather more prolific, scoring nineteen goals in only twenty one games across all competitions for Tilbury.

Even that wasn't as prolific as he was for Bowers and Pitsea in 2018-19, when he got an incredible forty three goals in all competitions. This total included hat tricks against Felixstowe and Walton United, Basildon United and Dereham Town, and four-goal hauls against both Barking and Takeley- the latter in the FA Cup.

He also previously played for Hornchurch, Wingate and Finchley, Metropolitan Police, Thurrock and Eastbourne Borough. Manager Jim Cooper told the club website:

”Dave is without doubt one of the best forwards I have had the pleasure of working with. I enjoyed working with him previously and have always kept in touch with him since then, hoping to work with him again. He has consistantly scored goals at every club he has been at and will provide us with the goals that we hope will propel the club forward. Alongside Dave we have a very strong attacking line up for the upcoming season.”
