My First XI- Alan Evans, Potters Bar Town

Alan is a gentleman, and a Scholar. Here’s his squad.

There will be others who have been around longer than my 15 years but here is my stab at a First XI.

1.Ravan Constable (Rave the Save):

Entertainment value plus cup penalty saves against Bath and Barnet. Goes in ahead of some great keepers we've always had in my time; e.g. Marlon Beresford, Ben Goode, Mike Underwood, Berkley Laurencin, Ed Thompson and Ashley Jones to name a few.

2.Chris Doyle.

Doyley. No words needed even if he has had two spells in Finchley. Three hundred plus games in most positions and lovely hair.

3.Andy Lomas.

I don't l really like putting current players in but... that injury time equaliser against Barnet in the cup. "It’s never over until it’s over." Mr consistency and a big fan favourite.

4.Cole Penny.

If (Sir) Les Eason rated him that's good enough for me. Not a lot of pace but gave everything and a great passer of the ball and football brain.

5.Dan Odamo.

A terrific player. What a proper centre half should be.

6.Steve Brown.

Skipper of our promotion winning side. Not the biggest but won everything in the air or on the floor. Big favourite even though he went off to Chesham.

7. James Gershfield.

Absolute Goal Machine.

8.Tom Pett.

No words needed. The most skilful player seen at Parkfield. No one was surprised to see him go on to pro game. Would get lumps kicked out of him as a youngster. Got up and smiled, then invariably scored.

9.Josh Hutchinson.

Goal machine whenever he plays for us.

10. Eoin Casey.

Goal machine and worker. Always first at the ground for away games.

11 Ashley Nathaniel-George.

What team can do without a tricky winger to get free kicks? Could tie laces with his feet I reckon.

Right, let’s have your First XI! Email your squad to Ian at townsendaround@gmail.com and you’ll see it appear here.
