Quizz buffs test raiders' resolve

After receiving a generous donation from their local community to help repair the damage they suffered in a break-in, Peacehaven & Telscombe's resident quiz team has made sure burglars will think twice about raiding the Ryman South club's home again.

Members of the The Bells Club quiz team are pictured handing over a brand new CCTV system for The Sports Park following February's break-in which saw hundreds of pounds worth of soft drinks and sweets stolen and a repair bill for the damage the intruders caused also running into hundreds of pound.

In the immediate aftermath, kind-hearted members of their local community in East Sussex sent in more than £200 after hearing about the raid at Piddinghoe Avenue on social media and acting chairman Sue Norwood has sent her thanks to them, the volunteers who carried out the repairs and now the club's quiz buffs.

The CCTV system has now been installed and she said: "I'd like to thank Peacehaven Bells Club quiz team for their donation of a CCTV camera system. We are truly grateful. Thank-you to those who have donated, whether it is with money or offering their time to help with repairs.

“The club has a dedicated group of volunteers that work extremely hard just to keep football in Peacehaven and when something like this happens it’s a real hammer blow. But to know there are lots of caring and thoughtful people who think as much of the club as we do is heartening indeed."
