Ashford United yesterday confirmed that striker Jay May had left the club to sign for Romford. In a Tweet, they stated:
'Unfortunate news this week for Aufc supporters as we have to announce the departure of Jay May, who has left the club after receiving an offer from Romford. As a club we wish Jay the best for the future and thank him for his service to the club.'
May, who previously played for Nuts and Bolts manager Tommy Warrilow at Tonbridge Angels, moved to the club in January 2019 after leaving Dulwich Hamlet. He got thirteen goals in his thirty one appearances last season, and managed five in fourteen the season before. He previously played for Margate, briefly for Hythe Town, and was also Maidstone United's top scorer as they won our Premier Division in 2014/15, repeating the feat as they won promotion to the National League the following season.
He scored in last night's five-four friendly defeat against Barking.
