Basildon United strenghtened their squad last night with two new arrivals, as Paul Shave and Bertie Brayley signed on.
Paul is a principle club sponsor and former player, the stadium bearing the name of his company, Core Refurbishments Ltd. A former player, he last appeared for the club in the three-three draw with Histon back in January 2020, and previously played for Tilbury, Billericay Town, Brentwood Town, Burnham Ramblers, Maldon & Tiptree and Hornchurch.
Bertie, a forward, has played for...well, almost everyone, with forty two different spells with various clubs. A professional at West Ham United, QPR and Swindon Town, he has also turned out for Canvey Island, Hornchurch, Billericay Town, Heybridge Swifts, Farnborough Town, Thurrock, Aldershot Town, Grays Athletic, Margate, and, most recently, Hullbridge Sports, for whom he played seven times during the 2019-20 season, scoring one goal. He previously played for- and managed- the Bees back in 2013.
