Skipper and keeper agree to stay


Merstham have announced that captain James Richmond and goalkeeper Matte Pierson have agreed to remain at the club for the 2020-21 season.

Defender Richmond signed on last summer, reunited with boss Frank Wilson after the two had a brief spell together at Kingstonian at the end of the 2018-19 season. Prior to his time with the K's he'd been a mainstay of the Burgess Hill Town defence. The player, who made thirty four appearances last season, has also appeared for Leatherhead and Carshalton Athletic.

Keeper Pierson also came in last summer, in his case from Bedfont Sports, where he won a collection of awards at the end of the 2018-19 season. He picked up another for the Moatsiders last season, winning the Player of the Season Award after impressing in his thirty seven matches. He previously played for boss Wilson at Tooting & Mitcham United.
