Up for the Cup!

By Ian Townsend

We had a few sides in County Cup action this week- and a friendly. Here's what happened.

We haven't had a great deal of competitive football during the 2020-21 season, and the little currently being played is all behind closed doors, but we thought we'd report on it nonetheless! There was a friendly, too.

Hanwell Town took on Ashford Town in the Semi-Final of the Middlesex Senior Cup. The match, played at Spelthorne, finished two-nil to the Geordies- and although we don't know who got the first goal, we believe that Harry Rush got the second. Jack Hutchinson picked up the man of the match award.

Our headline image, taken before the match, comes from the lens of Chris Benn.

Over in Norfolk, Dereham Town hosted the University of East Anglia in the Quarter Finals of the Norfolk Senior Cup. The Magpies emerged three-one winners, and although we don't know who got the goals, you can find out by watching the full match over on Magpies TV.

Tooting and Mitcham United returned to the pitch for the first time in forever to defeat Sporting Bengal in the London Senior Cup. Dontai Stewart and Danny Williams scored for the Terrors- see lots of photographs from the match here.

At Banstead, Merstham's Under 23's crushed Sutton Common Rovers by six goals to one in the Development Division League Cup Quarter-Final.

In a friendly on Tuesday, Bury Town defeated Brightlingsea Regent by three goals to one. Edwards, Ramadan and Altintop scored for the hosts, we don't know who got the Regent goal.
