Environmental award for Towners

Enfield Town's proud officials can start showing off their Ryman Premier club's green credentials after collecting a major environmental award.

The fan-run Towners have been honoured with a Greener Path Award for their work at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium with leading environmental waste management company ACM Environmental in 2015. Together, they maximised the amount of waste they diverted from landfill while demonstrating a clear commitment towards the goal of zero landfill in the future.

Enfield Town chairman Paul Reed said: "I am delighted that the club has received this award. As part of our vision of being a sustainable club both on and off the field of play, we are conscious of the need to be as efficient and effective as possible in every aspect of our development, and that includes our waste management strategy."

Developed in association with the British Council for Sustainable Development, the Greener Path Awards were launched last year to celebrate the efforts of businesses and organisations across the UK to reduce the impact they have on the environment.

Potential winners must demonstrate exemplary effort and achievement in minimising waste, boosting recycling and increasing landfill diversion while seeking out innovative and sustainable ways to handle waste streams.

ACM Environmental's chief executive Andy Jacobs said: “We are delighted that Enfield Town FC has been the recipient of a Zero Waste to Landfill Award.

"We have worked in partnership with them to help implement an environmentally-sound waste management strategy and to see them achieve such impressive landfill diversion results is extremely gratifying.”
