Ex-Ghosts boss succeeds Anselin

By David Watters

Former Fakenham Town manager Neil Jarvis is the new number two at Ryman North Wroxham.

Jarvis, pictured, left the Eastern Counties League Premier Division's Ghosts in September. Appointed by the Yachtsmen on Wednesday, he replaces popular Frenchman and Norwich City star Cedric Anselin who stepped down earlier this week for personal reasons.

Jarvis brings a wealth of experience and a proven record after guiding Fakenham Town promotion and then keeping them up. Under his guidance, a number of young players have gone on to establish themselves as first-team regulars at senior level, something officials at Trafford Park are hoping he can repeat alongside manager Stewart Larter.

Jarvis first joined Fakenham as a player in 1986. Following a successful playing career he became reserve team manager and in 2000 was installed as first-team boss. After two successful seasons he took a break from football before returning, initially, as U18s manager and then as first team coach.

A Yachtsmen spokesman said: “Neil brings a great knowledge of the game and has a proven record by getting Fakenham promoted and then keeping them in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, both achieved mainly as Wayne Anderson’s assistant.

“Neil has also managed and developed young players to become established first team regulars at senior level, which can only be good for our current set-up, and can’t wait to get started. His sons Ryan and Rossi both play for Lowestoft Town in National League North but the Ryman League North will be a new challenge for Neil.”

Anselin, 38, joined the Yachtsmen at the start of the 2014-15 campaign as number two to former manager Stewart Larter.

After kicking off his career as a midfielder at Bordeaux and Lille before leaving Norwich in 2001, pictured, the popular Frenchman went on to play for Ross County, Mildenhall Town, Cambridge United, Gravesend & Northfleet, King's Lynn Town, Dereham Town and Lowestoft Town.
