FA Handbook for 2020-21 now available

By Ian Townsend

Some light reading for those of you who love rules and regulations...and who want to find out about promotion and relegation

The FA have released their 2020-21 Handbook, the tome that guides you through the rules and regulations of our national game.

There are a few bits still to be updated, but perhaps the most important section for us is that which deals with the National League System- i.e. the Non League game. Promotion and relegation will be as follows:

  • Our four divisions will each promote their champions and their Playoff winners, and the bottom two from the Premier Division will be relegated.
  • The third bottom club in the Premier Division might go down too- this is dependent on points per game, as two of the third bottom clubs from across the four Step Three divisions will find themselves relegated.
  • The bottom placed clubs in the North, South Central and South East Divisions will not necessarily go down. Instead they will host a one-off match against a second placed side from a Step Five League for the right to stay up!

You can read the whole handbook- we suggest you dip into it as and when required, otherwise you're likely to suffer from word blindness- by heading here.
