FA Trophy Fourth Round Draw

By Ian Townsend

Horsham find out their opponents- whilst Hythe Town, Whitehawk and Billericay Town have another hurdle to leap first

Yesterday afternoon saw the draw for the Fourth Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy, and it featured four of our clubs- but only one of the four has safely navigated Round Three.

Horsham, who defeated AFC Totton on Saturday, will welcome Peterborough Sports of National League North in the next round. Sports are only three points above the relegation places in their Division, but that position is perhaps based on early season form rather than current form. They defeated Dagenham and Redbridge in the Third Round on Saturday, and have won their last three matches, Blyth Spartans and Leiston their other victims.

Hythe Town and Whitehawk face off tonight- preview later- and the winners of that match will entertain another National League North side, eighth place Chorley, who will have a rather long trip down from Lancashire. Chorley are currently on a seven match unbeaten run, which included an eight-nil thrashing of Darlington. That said, they haven't won on the road for more than two months.

Billericay Town head to Wealdstone tonight, and know that if they manage to triumph they'll face an Essex derby in the next round, travelling to National League South side Chelmsford City. City, who sit just outside of the play off places, last night lost at home to our very own Redbridge in the Essex Cup, and they have shown indifferent form at home whilst losing only one of their last eleven on their travels. The two sides last met when both were at the same level during 21-22, their last clash on Easter Monday 2022, a two-one win for City.

Matches are scheduled to take place on Saturday 13 January, with winning clubs at this stage picking up £5250 from the competition prize fund and losing clubs collecting £1500.
