Bowers and Pitsea had two new names in their squad and two new faces on the bench as they took on Brentwood Town on Saturday, after the signings of Kai Redgrave and Brendon Shabani.
Kai Redgrave emerged from the bench just after the hour. The midfielder/winger has played twice for Pitching In Isthmian Premier side Cheshunt this season, and is a former Colchester United youth, having played both Under 18 and Under 21 football before departing the League Two club in the summer.
Brendon Shabani must wait for his debut. The midfielder came through the ranks at Leyton Orient, first coming to our attention when playing twice on loan for Bishop's Stortford in 2019-20. He spent time with St Neots Town, then with Concord Rangers, before signing for Aveley in November 2021. He was a big success with the Millers, playing twenty three times as they became Pitching In Isthmian North champions and another thirty times- with three goals- as they won promotion from Pitching In Isthmian Premier last season. He was reported as a signing for Wingate & Finchley in the summer, but doesn't seem to have played there.
