A Hulbridge Horror Story

Club broken into- again

The Basildon Echo have reported that North Division Hullbridge Sports have been the victims of a break in and robbery- for the second time in two weeks. On this occasion the Ryan’s Heating Stadium was accessed using bolt cutters, and the callous thieves made off with a large collection of drainage equipment worth thousands of pounds- equipment which the club had on trial so hadn't even paid for yet.

Speaking to the paper, Chairman Alistair Nash explained:

“It’s soul-destroying.

They have stolen all of the equipment we had on trial. We hadn’t even paid for that equipment yet and it was being used to help the pitch. We’d had the equipment for four days, whereas the person we took it on trial from had it for 15 years!

The way the thieves got in and out of the stadium is really concerning and it would cost tens of thousands of pounds to do more security work. It’s just heartbreaking.

“We have lost thousands of pounds worth of equipment.”

We'll never understand why people would steal from Non-League football clubs, most of which are anything but wealthy, but if you can help track down these morons then please contact the police on 101 or Crimstoppers on 0800 555111.
