BetVictor Isthmian League Manager of the Month Awards- sponsored by Anderson Travel: December 2019

By Ian Townsend

The winners of the December Manager of the Month Awards- sponsored by the fabulous folk at Anderson Travel- have just been announced. Who won the last awards of an action-packed decade?

December brought us goals, drama, and enough rain to float a fleet of battleships. The football, when it was played, was magnificent- but who were the best performers? Here are our Manager of the Month winners, sponsored by Anderson Travel.

Premier

One club never troubled by rain at Worthing, and during December the Mackerel Men weren’t troubled by anything else, either! Margate, Enfield Town and Horsham arrived at Woodside Road and were conquered- and although we don’t take these into account, they won both of their cup matches too- against AFC Varndeanians in the Sussex Senior Cup and Cray Wanderers in the Velocity Trophy.

The biggest crowds in the Premier Division are attracted to watch Worthing- and it’s fairly clear why. Congratulations to Adam Hinshelwood, our Manager of the Month.

North

Wayne Brown of Maldon & Tiptree is probably getting quite used to being lauded for the achievements of his side this season, but more praise is coming his way, as the Jammers boss is our Manager of the Month. Hullbridge Sports, Dereham Town, Heybridge Swifts and Witham Town took on the Jammers in the league last month, and each was sent packing as our unbeaten leaders stayed ahead of the chasing pack.

Congratulations to Wayne and all at Park Drive.

South Central

There were a few contenders for the South Central prize, but with four consecutive victories, sixteen goals scored and only two conceded, our prize goes to Tony Reid
of Westfield. His side demolished Chalfont St Peter, FC Romania and Ashford Town, and also won a difficult match against Bedfont Sports, ending the year only three points off the summit.

Congratulations to Tony and all at Woking Park.

South East

There were a number of South East contenders too, but the winners are the Cannons. Hythe Town didn’t concede a goal during December, and picked up seven points from nine, with victories over VCD Athletic and Ramsgate- and a creditable goalless draw in Guernsey- seeing them climb the table at a rate of knots- or perhaps as if they’d been fired out of an, erm, cannon!

Many congratulations to Steve Watt on picking up the last South East award of the decade.
