Borough make history, K’s go goal mad, and Enfield Town hit six- for the third time this season!

What a marvellous, marvellous day we had on White Hart Lane yesterday. Haringey Borough got to the First Round of the FA Cup for the very first time- but we won’t issue any more spoilers, as you can read about how it happened HERE. Elsewhere in the Cup, the Tanners live to fight another day- Wednesday, in fact- after Travis Gregory opened the scoring in a 1-1 draw at Hitchin Town. Worthing sadly went down 4-0 at Ebbsfleet United.

Back to the League now, and in the Premier Division Kingstonian put the sorry Hawks of Harlow Town to the sword at King George’s Field. Two from Louis Theophanous, two from Alfie Doughty, one from David Fitzpatrick, one from Elliott Buchanan (that’s compulsory, it’s probably in the rules) and an own goal saw them seven-nil victors and up to thirteenth.

And then we have Enfield Town. After winning six-one against Corinthian-Casuals and six-one against Burgess Hill Town you might have thought that lightning had already struck twice, but yesterday they did it a third time, walloping Whitehawk six-nil and proving that Hawks of all sizes should have remained in their nests yesterday. Billy Bricknell got two, Micky Parcell, Matthew Johnson, Brandon Adams and Liam Hope the rest, as Town go third- four points off the top.

That top spot is still held by Tonbridge Angels, who got back to winning ways yesterday when an Alex Read double- one in the forty fifth minute, and another in the ninetieth, thanks for the symmetry Alex- gave them victory at AFC Hornchurch, whilst Dorking Wanderers are ominously now only three points behind them, second half goals from Giuseppe Sole, Jerry O’Sullivan and Jason Prior bursting Wingate & Finchley’s bubble at Meadowbank. Worthing are fifth but- as mentioned- were playing in the cup yesterday, and Bognor Regis Town are fourth, playing out a goalless draw with eight place Margate.

Incidentally, four of the top five have lost only one league match this season, and the one side that has lost two is the side on top! Enfield and Bognor, particularly, need to turn draws into victories!

Bishop’s Stortford and up to sixth, and extended their unbeaten streak to eight matches with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Corinthian-Casuals yesterday. Alfie Mason opened the scoring, boss Jamie Cureton added the second just after the break, and Jake Cass rounded things up three minutes from time. Lewes have got back to winning ways in style this week and went seventh, late goals from Thomas Day and Dan Darbyshire easing them to victory over Folkestone Invicta in front of 708 at the Dripping Pan. Carshalton Athletic are twelfth, after a second half goal from Tommy Bradford gave them victory over Potters Bar Town.

North Division

The match of the day in the North Division was actually the match of the day before, as Aveley defeated Basildon United for the second Friday night in a row (the other was in the FA Trophy) to narrow the gap on their visitors to four points. Alex Akrofi and Tom Richardson found the net, and Eljay Worrell’s response wasn’t enough to get the League leaders anything from the game.

Bowers and Pitsea and Maldon and Tiptree could both have narrowed the gap to the top two, but were playing each other and couldn’t find the net between them, whilst Heybridge Swifts haven’t looked back since the departure of Jody Brown, Julian Dicks side winning their third match in a row with goals from Matthew Price, Kreshnic Krasniqi and Harrison Chatting enough to beat Brentwood Town, for whom Ryan Mallet scored a consolation. Swifts are now fourth.

Grays Athletic are up to fifth, and yesterday a penalty from Joao Carlos earned them all three points after Ryan Auger for Soham Town Rangers had cancelled out Dennis Oli’s opener. Bury Town sit just behind the Jammers in seventh, and yesterday earned three points with three goals at Ram Meadow, Ryan Jolland, Ollie Hughes and Ryan Stafford giving them victory over Mildenhall Town. Eighth place Coggeshall Town and tenth place Canvey Island shared six goals equally, and the Gulls will feel a little deflated as they were both two-nil and three-one up in that match. A Sam Bantick double and one from Nnamdi Nwachuku made up the Seed Growers trio, whilst Frankie Merrifield, Martin Tuohy and Sam Collins scored for Canvey.

A first half strike from Daniel Beaumont gave Dereham Town victory over Romford, whilst Great Wakering Rovers went eleventh after Billy Johnson and Marcus Bowers gave them victory over Witham Town, for whom Sam Ashford got a last-gasp consolation.

Tilbury and Felixstowe & Walton United shared four goals at Chadfields, a Lewis Smith double for the Dockers cancelled out by Jack Ainsley and Joseph Francis for the Seasiders. Finally, AFC Sudbury and Barking got a goal a-piece and a point a-piece, and goodness Sudbury left it late, Callum Harrison’s equaliser coming deep into stoppage time after Daniel Cheema had given Barking the lead.

South East Division

The Cray Wanderers juggernaut roles on! Ten matches, nine victories, no defeats and eight points clear, Wands didn’t have it all their own way at Herne Bay yesterday but still left with their customary three points in a 2-1 victory. All of the goals came in the second half, Ben Mundele and Tom Phipp scoring for the away side before Jake Embery made it a nervy finish by halving the arrears from the spot with nine minutes remaining.

Phoenix Sports are second, albeit eight points behind, after Lex Allan stopped them from winning with a last gasp Sittingbourne equaliser, Jack Barry having earlier given Sports the lead. Hythe Town are third, courtesy of a 3-2 win at Three Bridges- a double from Jack Sammoutis and the obligatory Zak Ansah goal enough to give them all of the points despite Ibby Akanbi and Connor French scoring for the home side. VCD Athletic are fourth, after ending Whitstable Town’s eight match unbeaten run with a 3-1 win, despite falling behind. Aiden Enver gave Town the lead, but a double from Ali Fuseini and a last gasp goal from Charlie MacDonald made the difference.

Hastings United, who are thirteen points behind Cray with four matches in hand, play at eighteenth place Guernsey today.

Haywards Heath Town are up to seventh, and unbeaten in the league since September 1st. Yesterday they travelled to Faversham Town and fell behind in the third minute, Ashley Miller with the goal, but went in 2-1 up at half time, Andrew Dalhouse and Keiran Rowe with the goals. Danny Walder got Faversham level once more, but Karl Akehurst and Byron Napper made the game safe. Ramsgate are tenth, first half strikes from Sam Lawford and Rory Smith enough to give them the points despite a Mo Kamara goal for Greenwich Borough at the DGS Marine Stadium.

Horsham are in good form and up to 11th, and the Hornets won El Insectico yesterday with a 3-1 victory over the Wasps of East Grinstead Town. Three of the goals came in the first twelve minutes so any late arrivers at Culver Road may have been disappointed, Joey Taylor and Dean Gunner trading goals in the first five minutes before Will Hoare put the Hornets ahead once more. They extended their lead through Chris Smith seven minutes from time.

Finally, Sevenoaks Town continued their impressive form, and continued Ashford United’s slump, with a 1-0 victory yesterday. Frankie Sawyer for the goal, and the match raised £839 for Breast Cancer Care.

South Central Division

The South Central Division is Amber this morning, as Cheshunt take over at the summit despite only managing a nil-nil draw at home to sixth place Marlow. The Ambers remain unbeaten since 18th August, whilst previous leaders Waltham Abbey slipped up at Chipstead, who are flying at the moment. Izzy Bademosi is on fire, and yesterday scored his sixth and seventh goals in four matches as Chips moved up to fifth with a 2-0 win.

Hayes and Yeading United are third, easing to a 3-0 win at Hertford Town with a Toby Little double and a third from Lee Barney doing the damage, whilst Bracknell Town lost for the first time this season, 3-2 at Uxbridge. It could have been worse for the Robins, as the home side were 3-0 up at one point, a Matt Sinclair double and Zaine Gangedeen with the goals, but Joseph Grant and Seb Bowerman were able to reduce the arrears. Uxbridge are eighth, and Bracknell fourth- but the Robins (and Hayes) have matches in hand over the top two.

Chalfont St Peter are seventh, a Dan Fleming goal giving them a 1-0 win over FC Romania and continuing a fine run that sees them unbeaten in the league since mid-August, whilst ninth place Northwood could have been higher had they not let a two goal lead slip at home to South Park- Ben Pattie and Sam Tring giving them the advantage before Tyreke Leslie and Sebastien Osei-Obengo levelled for Sparks.

Hanwell Town are eleventh, and with games in hand over the top five. Yesterday Tom Collins was the man of the moment, firing a hat trick as they defeated ware 3-0 at Reynolds Field.

What turned out to be the South Central Division match of the day came at Runnymede, where Egham Town went two-nil and three-one up over Tooting & Mitcham United before succumbing to an attack of the Terrors, as the away side came back to win 4-3. It must have seemed so certain when Rhys Rabess and Kezie Ibe gave the Sarnies a two goal lead, and even though Danny Bassett reduced the arrears for Tooting, Brandon McCarthy made it 3-1 at half time. But it seems that Town relaxed too much during the break, as Hady Ghandour, Isaiah Jones and a second from Bassett took the points back to South London.

Ashford Town took on Westfield for the third time in a week, and picked up their second victory as Kofi Lockhart-Adams and Mark Bitmead (2) found the net in the second half as the Tangerines eased to a 3-0 win.

Finally, Bedfont Sports (Kyle Lemon) and Molesey (an own goal) shared the points. Bedfont are sixteenth, the Moles remain in the basement.
