Former Bowers man is Basildon's boss

Bees make a quick appointment

Last week we reported on the surprise resignation of Basildon United boss Alex Salmon, just before the start of the new Pitching In Isthmian North campaign. The Bees started their league programme with a narrow defeat against Bury Town on Saturday, and a couple of hours after the final whistle announced the appointment of former Bowers and Pitsea Under 23 boss John Guyton as their new number one.

A number of players developed by John during the last two years at the Len Salmon moved on into Bowers first team or climbed upwards in the pyramid. Back in February his Under 23 side defeated the first team of his new charges in a friendly match, so he'll be well prepared for his new role!

He was very highly regarded at Bowers, and it is no surprise he is taking a step into senior management.
