Four more for Margate

By Ian Townsend

That's seven so far!

We told you about three Margate signings yesterday, and in a deliberate attempt to catch us out they almost immediately announced four more- so we've waited a short while before writing about them. Where's the betting they'll announce more signings ten minutes after this article is published?

The returning quartet are midfielders Jordy Robins and Reece Prestedge, defender Liam Friend and forward Jack Richards.

Jordy joined the club from Maidstone United. He started his career as a youth player at Gillingham, spent some time in the USA, came back and signed for Hastings United, and then played for his current boss at Maidstone before heading to Hartsdown Park. He made twenty two appearances last season, following the thirty three he made in 2018-19- but of course we got to finish the 2018-19 season.

Reece also played for the Stones, and Bromley. He joined the club from Welling United. He made twenty nine appearances last season, scoring the winner against Bowers and Pitsea back in November.

Liam is a Folkestone Invicta legend, with five hundred and sixty appearances, but at the start of last season after playing almost one hundred times for Gate he headed along the coast to Ramsgate- but he was back by January, and played ten times between New Years Day and the end of the season.

Jack made thirty one appearances last season, scoring in the FA Cup victories against Horsham YMCA and Concord Rangers. He is another who came from Maidstone, after coming through the Stones youth and academy sides.
