Freddie's ready for Margate

Midfielder Moncur heads to Hartsdown Park

Margate yesterday announced the signing of midfielder Freddie Moncur, who spent last season at Romford and Harlow Town.

Freddy came through the youth system at West Ham United and then signed for Leyton Orient, but he will be known to BetVictor Isthmian League watchers due to his spells with Wingate & Finchley (three, two of them on loan)- and his time with Bishop's Stortford, although they weren't in our league at that point.

He also spent some time with East Thurrock United during 2018-19, and signed for Concord Rangers last summer, spending some time on loan at Cheshunt. He made five appearances for Romford, the last of them on December 28th, and ended the campaign at the Harlow Arena, playing five times.

Gate manager Jay Saunders told the club website:

“Freddie is a player I’ve been aware of and followed his career for a number of years. I’ve actually tried to sign Freddie a number of times before, so I’m pleased to be able to welcome him to my squad for the new season.

Freddie has real quality on the ball and from set-pieces, is full of energy and ambitious. I think he will fit in really well with the boys in our squad already and be a real asset in our midfield.”
