Horsham continue to shop local

A pair of Lewes stars are the latest to head to the Camping World Community Stadium

Horsham have announced the signing of Lewes duo Tom Day and Charlie Coppola.

Defender Tom- nominally at centre back but we have seen him just about everywhere across the defence apart from in goal- joined the Rooks from Eastbourne Borough at the start of the 2018-19 season, and made thirty two appearances during that campaign, adding another forty before everything ground to a halt in March. It was confirmed by Chairman Stuart Fuller in an interview last month that the player was leaving the Dripping Pan, but until last night we didn't know where he was going. He played youth football at Crystal Palace and Barnet, made a senior debut for the Bees, and turned out for Staines Town and Hemel Hempstead Town before moving to Borough. The player commented:

"Excited to get the season started soon! Looking forward to the new challenge and getting down to it! Want to wish Lewes all the best for the upcoming season! And thanks for a great couple of years at the club."

Midfielder/winger Charlie has been noted as a rising talent for a number of years, having a number of professional trials- but rather sensibly has always put medicine before football, his studies having come first throughout his five year Lewes career. He has also played for the England Colleges international side.

He made his Rooks debut as a seventeen year old, and has been in and out of the side since then due to his educational commitments, but was a great favourite with the fans at the Pan. Last season he managed only fourteen appearances but still managed to grab five goals from the wing, and he got five in eighteen appearances the season before, and was a massive part of the side which won promotion from the South Division in 2017-18. Writing on social media last night, he stated:

"Very excited for the new season with Horsham (when it finally starts). Want to say a huge thank you to Lewes FC for an amazing 5 years at club and wish them all the best for this season."
